Our Staff

The moment you enter our clinic at Yeronga, your pet will be treated as a member of our extended family.

We will get to know you and your pets to the best of our ability, and their wellbeing is our number one priority. You can expect us to remember your pet’s birthday, and their vaccination and parasite prevention is due dates, how you like your coffee (or tea), and the names of your other family members. We understand that you lead a busy life, so we want you to know that we have your pet’s health needs covered.

Dr Cheryl Macpherson BVSc, MANZCVS

Cheryl graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1995 and has spent her career exploring many areas of veterinary medicine. From Small Animal Practice to Mixed Practice, from Wildlife in Thailand to Emergency and Critical Care in Sydney and Brisbane. She has spent time exploring the intricacies of pharmaceutical development and teaching Veterinary Nursing students at TAFE. Cheryl also ran a home Euthanasia business several years back and understands the importance of providing for a comfortable end of life for our fur friends.

However, after learning lots of skills in these endeavours, she is always drawn back to veterinary practice. She enjoys caring for elderly pets, managing sick or injured animals and learning new techniques for providing optimal quality of life for her patients.

Outside of work, Cheryl thrives on bouldering, attempts to surf, and enjoys cooking while constantly learning. Her family share their home with two dogs, two cats, a guinea pig, and a chicken.

Dr Rachel Reid BVSc (Hons)

Rachel graduated from UQ in 2016, where she then spent four years working in North Brisbane. The past two years she has been working on the south side in a general practice clinic. Rachel enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and loves to meet all her new clients. When not in clinic, she enjoys looking after her partners dogs, Bella the Koolie and Mia the Kelpie.

Zoe

Zoe started her career working with animals in 2018 when she moved to Queensland from interstate. She began volunteering for the RSPCA in the animal ambulance rescue team and would carry out wildlife and domestic animal rescues. She then began her studies to become a Veterinary Nurse following this and was successfully fully qualified by the end of 2019. She has worked in both general practice and Emergency & Intensive Care nursing positions but made her way back to full time GP as our new Practice Manager this year. She has two tortoiseshell cats, Rosie and Fig at home with her, plus another childhood tortoiseshell cat Monet that lives with her parents, along with Bear the bull arab and a border collie called Mika.

Emily

Emily is currently studying Veterinary Science at UQ and is hoping to graduate at the end of 2023. She started working at Yeronga Vet as a kennel hand and receptionist in 2022 to gain experience in the field and improve her clinical skills. She has two cats – a ginger DSH called Bean and a ragdoll called Duffy.

Chloe

Chloe has been a qualified nurse for over a year and has just started her journey with Yeronga Vet in 2022. She has always loved connecting with animals from a young age and is passionate about domestic care and wildlife conservation for animals. Chloe has a keen interest in Australian birds and enjoys trying to identify the wide range if species she comes across. Outside of work Chloe enjoys hiking, camping, and visiting her family and friends on the Sunshine Coast.

Caitlyn

Caitlyn has completed her Certificate III in Animals Studies and is currently studying towards her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and will become fully qualified in mid-2023. She loves reading and travelling and used to work for a travel agent, before deciding to move into the Veterinary Industry due to her love of animals. She lives with her Rottweiler, Hazel.

Sarah: Qualified Veterinary Nurse

Sarah began her journey in the animal care industry in 2005, completing a Certificate II in Animal Studies as a trainee on the northside of Brisbane. She has come a long way since then! Sarah gained her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2012 and has enjoyed working in various small animal veterinary clinics around South-East Queensland as a qualified Vet Nurse. Sarah particularly loves surgical nursing and teaching puppy preschool classes, and she adores guinea pigs! She has a large tropical catfish at home named Lenny and a budgie named Freddie.

Daisy

Daisy has worked at Yeronga for a few years as a Kennel Hand. She has now completed her Certificate 2 in Animals Studies and will be going into grade 12 in 2023. Once complete, she intends to continue on to do her Certificate 3 and 4 to become a Veterinary Nurse. She currently does hydrobaths on Saturdays and does some kennel hand hours throughout the week. She lives with her family and her three Smooth Fox Terriers – Sascha, Boycee and Dixie. She also does horse riding in her spare time.

Grace

Grace has worked as a receptionist at Yeronga for over three years now. She has recently taken over as our Senior Full-Time Receptionist. She is studying towards her university degree in Journalism and intends to complete this within the next few years. She lives with her family and her cat, Scooter, Cattle Dog, Rocket and horses Tia and Ed.

Exceptional vet service. I have three cats and a dog and have been taking them to Yeronga Veterinary Clinic for over twelve years. I have always found the staff to be caring and professional. Their compassion and the dedication shown to each animal is of a high standard. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for outstanding care for their pets.

We moved into the Yeronga area over 18 years ago with our 2 border collies and were fortunate to have someone recommend the Yeronga Veterinary Surgery to us. Since then they have supported us through many wonderful moments when we added 2 wolfhounds to our family and adopted 2 kittens through their adoption service. They have also supported us in the most devastating of times losing 3 dogs over the years. Anita and her team achieve the perfect balance of being excellent vets providing the best of care for pets (and their owners) in a genuine caring and compassionate manner. We are always able to book appointments when needed and have been seen promptly when we have had emergency situations too. I would highly recommend Yeronga Veterinary Surgery.

I have been a patient of Yeronga Vet Clinic for over 20 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Dr Lisca and the team are second to none. Recently my 3 year old Labradoodle Daisy ruptured her cruciate ligament and underwent surgery. The professionalism and care Daisy received was top class. I would recommend Yeronga Vet Clinic to anyone looking for a great vet service for their fur baby.

We first came to Yeronga Veterinary Surgery nearly 4 years ago, carrying our tiny black Labrador puppy Delilah in, hoping to find some guidance and caring attention, and just a little bit of shared dog-madness. Well, we were in luck, and we have never looked back. The team at Yeronga Vet Surgery have been nothing short of exceptional at every step of our journey with them. From the basics of preventative care to important surgeries (and the odd mini-emergency thanks to our hungry labradors…) everyone has been both professional and welcoming, and more importantly, extremely good at their jobs! I am constantly blown away by the care and attention we receive, and the fact that our dogs cry with excitement when we pull into the street says it all. We’ve never had dogs who are so excited to visit the vet. We can’t recommend the team highly enough – they are exceptional.

Hi there puny human my name is Bastet. Here is a picture of me in all my glory to help your feeble human brain rest for a moment so I don’t pile on to much information at once. Ready? Nevermind let’s continue. Every few months my manservant deems it necessary to verify the divinity of close personal friend Zeus and myself, here is picture of us looking regal. I know you’re thinking “They are clearly perfect why would he waste their time.” and the answer is frankly he’s not very bright but means well so we indulge him. One thing we demand in return is that he takes us to the Yeronga Vet Surgery where we know we will be shown the respect and deference as befits ones such as us. So if you must interrupt the napping, playing or eating of your betters take them to Yeronga Vet Surgery.

Yeronga Vet have alway been wonderful in their professionalism and care over the years for those furrier members of the family, adding a healthy dose of genuine sympathy for those less routine difficult visits.
